The literal meaning of Shekinah Glory is the weight of God’s presence, and there is no mistaking it…
1 Samuel 5:1-7…
After the Philistines had captured the ark of God, they took it from Ebenezer to Ashdod. 2Then they carried the ark into Dagon’s temple and set it beside Dagon. 3When the people of Ashdod rose early the next day, there was Dagon, fallen on his face on the ground before the ark of the Lord! They took Dagon and put him back in his place. 4But the following morning when they rose, there was Dagon, fallen on his face on the ground before the ark of the Lord! His head and hands had been broken off and were lying on the threshold; only his body remained. 5That is why to this day neither the priests of Dagon nor any others who enter Dagon’s temple at Ashdod step on the threshold.
6The Lord’s hand was heavy on the people of Ashdod and its vicinity; he brought devastation on them and afflicted them with tumors. 7When the people of Ashdod saw what was happening, they said, “The ark of the god of Israel must not stay here with us, because his hand is heavy on us and on Dagon our god.”
When the Shekinah Glory appears things happen, people get saved, and the sick are healed. Under that kind of weight, of God’s presence, evil can not stand to be around.
God will not share His glory with anyone else. He will not share it with man, or any other false God.
The importance of understanding this is realizing that God wants to be with His people; but He will not compete with people.
God still shows up. His presence goes with us. Regardless of what we face, at the end of the day, this is hope for us. Believe this!
