Grace delivers what your tears cannot, even when we are mourning…
Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
This passage from what is known as the Sermon on the Mount teaches us that God is with us even when we are mourning. Jesus offers us solace, as only He can. We can mourn many things: a loved one, a job, a home, a relationship. It is our assurance that God is with us. Joy comes to those who are mourning, if we seek Him.
Our focus needs to be God, even in those times when there is sorrow beyond our understanding. We can experience loss in various ways, and God wants to restore us beyond this loss. Even though we may be mourning the loss of someone near and dear to us, we need to look to God. He provides the joy that comes in the midst of our sorrow. God’s joy is available to us, although the source of that sorrow may not be removed. Joy comes from the Lord, exceeding what is going on around us.
The mourning process that we experience is precious to God. He understands it is something that we must go through. The important part is that we get through it. At some point we need to move on. We need to be careful not to be bound by it. This would cause our lives and our service to Him to be paralyzed. Our service to Him is also compromised. We need to move on to live the life that we have for those that are here with us.
