These Building Blocks of Our Faith will help us to grow so that we can do great things..
2 Peter 1:5-7…
For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.
As vitamins help our physical bodies, Peter teaches us about the building blocks of our faith. These are nourishment for our souls, and should therefore be added.
When we begin a new year we think about resolutions. These are there because there is something within us that we do not like. This could be regarding our health, work or relationships.
We can be effective and productive in our lives. God’s desire for us is that we not get tripped up in our faith. We cannot allow people or situations to cause us to stumble. By doing the things that Peter lists here we will see our faith grow and we will experience a long and full life.
The first building block is that of goodness. The Word of God encourages us to develop moral character and virtue. Our road may not be easy, but our faith is not determined by every change of wind. We stay strong for Him.
Knowledge is the second building block that we observe. We need to actually know what it is that we have faith in. Though we may not see it, we certainly need to know what it is.
God wants more from us. He does not want us to be superficial in our faith. Allow yourself to attain to that knowledge and do what it says. Once we learn who God is we will seek to have relationship with Him.
Add to your faith these building blocks and see what God does!
